- Repricing configuration to NOT be the first one to break MAP price
MAP stands for Minimum Advertised Price - The minimum price a vendor/manufacturer/distributor allows other merchants to list their items for.
Essentially you are limited to only advertising RMAP-protected products at (or above) a certain price. However, you can sell these products at any price!
Feedvisor’s MAP Masking feature allows you to 'hide' your price from non-Prime customers whenever the algorithm sets a price below the MAP value. This is mostly used as a last resort when you aren't able to achieve Buy Box on a MAP item but you do not want to violate MAP in order to achieve it.
*This is only available for Amazon’s US marketplace (.com)
Activating MAP masking from the Dashboard:
-
Open the product Slider
-
Check the ‘Activate Map Price’ Field
-
Enter the MAP value in the ‘MAP Price’ Field
-
Click ‘Save’
Note: In order to reprice below the MAP price, please make sure your floor price is lower than the MAP value. If and when the algorithm sets a price below the MAP value, we will automatically hide the price.
Deactivating MAP masking
Simply clear the ‘MAP price’ field:
Activating MAP masking for multiple products
-
Export the Inventory & listings configuration file
-
Enter the MAP value in the column ‘Minimum Advertised Price ($)’
-
Select "yes" in the column ‘Active Map Masking’
-
Import the file.
To deactivate MAP masking in Bulk, set the field "Is Map Masking Active" to "No" and clear the "Map masking field" to remove it.
Repricing-related - "Dont be the first one to break MAP"
This configuration's name speaks for itself. The instructions for the repricing algorithm are:
Do not be the first merchant to price below the configured MAP price.
The price will stay above the MAP price unless a competitor breaks the MAP price first.
IF the competition that is breaking MAP drops off the listing, or raises back up TO MAP, Feedvisor will immediately raise prices back up. We will not stay below the MAP price if no one else is breaking.
Reviewing items set for MAP masking
-
Click on the Actions tab
-
In the ‘Repricing tab’, click on ‘Details’
-
The MAP column will show the MAP value for the items that have been set with one.
-
You can also filter to show only items that have been set with a MAP value using the ‘Additional Repricing Options.’
This is a completely legal way to compete on MAP items. The only caveat is that the price cannot be masked for Prime members because the buy box functions almost identically to these customers’ shopping cart (due to “one-click purchase”).
Important note on MAP Masking:
The MAP Masking feature will only work when your account is set up with the MAP Masking feature (this can only be done through Amazon Seller Support), and for listings that are eligible for Buy Box and MAP Masking. Prior to activating MAP masking, please review the following:
-
MAP Masking must be active on your Seller Central account. To confirm this, please contact Seller Support asking whether the MAP Masking feature is active on your account. If it is not already available, you can request that they enable this feature.
-
The listing must be Buy Box eligible.
-
Select categories are not MAP eligible. Amazon does not allow MAP masking to be used for the following:
