Algorithmic repricing monitors every variable that matters to the Buy Box. In addition to checking your competitors’ prices thousands of times an hour, the algorithm takes into account other variables such as fulfillment method, shipping time, seller rating, and feedback score. It then sets the best possible price for a product based on the seller’s individual business goals.
The below items should always be repriced algorithmically
- Competitive items: The algorithm will determine the highest possible price at which the product can be set. This price optimizes Buy Box share (and therefore sales rate) and profit margins.
- Items with high potential profit margins: If the seller’s main aim is to sell each product at the highest profit possible, the algorithm will find the optimum price needed to increase the profit margin as much as possible, while still maintaining an acceptable Buy Box share and sales rate.
- Items with a large inventory count/items that are easily replenished: The algorithm will find the optimum price needed to secure a higher Buy Box share and greater sales volume, while still maintaining an acceptable profit margin.
The below items can be repriced algorithmically under certain circumstances (please discuss specifics with your Customer Success representative)
- Non-Competitive items/unique items: The algorithm will set the price at the ceiling price the seller has determined. If no sales are made, the algorithm will lower the price until the exact point at which it will be making sales with the highest profit possible.
- MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) items: MAP items have a set minimum price that the seller is not allowed to deviate from; therefore, the algorithm can be applied here using a special setting. Contact us for more information.
- Books and Downloadable Media: If Amazon itself has the product in stock, no other seller will win the Buy Box and therefore the algorithm is not relevant.
